Remove Cuticles

Having a professional manicure is always a good thing to have when entering the professional work force. A manicure not only makes you feel good, but it also tells your employer and clients that you care about your appearance. The best type of manicure to have is the French Manicure. The French Manicure is a natural looking manicure that applies a curved white tip on the tip of the nail to give a healthy look to the overall nail. In order to achieve this look, there are many steps you have to take when preparing and applying the manicure to your nails. It works with either acrylic or natural nail, and gives a professional look to any length of nail.

Before applying the manicure, you have to make sure that you remove all debris from the nail. That means making sure you have a clean nail, trimmed cuticles, and a buffed nail. This is because the natural nail had a layer of oil that covers the entire nail from cuticle to tip that can cause the manicure to peel away from the nail very easily. In order to have a professional look, you have to trim and remove excess cuticles as well as remove that layer of oil from the nail.

To remove the cuticle, your manicurist will use a variety of different tools. One tool that they will use is a cuticle pusher. This tool pushes the excess cuticles off the nail and makes it easy for the cuticle trimmer to cut away at the excess. The cuticle trimmer gently cuts away at the excess cuticle that was pushed back by the previous tool, it also is used to trim away any extra dead skin that may be around the nail, including under the nail. Removing the excess cuticle is important when placing a manicure because the cuticle is the one thing that can make a manicure look unprofessional. Excess cuticles do more damage to the nail, not just in appearance but also in health, than a nicely trimmed cuticle does. Making sure that the cuticle is trimmed and healthy will prevent later problems with the fingers and nails.

The next step in removing cuticles for a French Manicure, is to buff the nails. This is done in order to remove excess oil from the nail and allow the manicure to remain for longer than if the manicure was just applied to the nail without any preparations made beforehand. The natural oils on the nail can prevent the manicure from setting, and cause you to have to reapply the manicure far more quickly than if you just follow through with this step.

Before buffering the nail, make sure you apply a vitamin-E rich oil to the skin above the cuticle so that the skin and remaining cuticle does not dry out.

After applying the oil, your manicurist will use an electronic file on your nail. This will not hurt if done correctly. The file will be placed on the lowest setting possible, and a diamond tip will be used to buff away the top layer of the nail. This layer is the one with the oil on it that prevents the manicure from remaining on the nail itself. The file is used not just on the nail, but also on the skin around the nail and under the tip of the nail to ensure that everything is trimmed, and ready for the French Manicure to be placed. There are several different types of tips on the electronic file, and you may see that more than just one is used on your nail, this is normal.

After the file is used, a large buffer block is used to smooth the nail and make sure that everything is ready for the polish to be added to the nail. Once the nail is trimmed, filed, and buffed, the manicurist will begin to apply the French Manicure to your nails. Having your nails done professionally is always the best choice when getting a manicure, however, it is not the only option you have available. Now that you know how to properly prepare your nails for a manicure, you can do one yourself at home and save some money along the way. A simple nail file can do the same job as a professional electronic one.
